Tattered Remnants

by Thomas Lee Rhymes CANCER - Not entered

Tattered Remnants
left to heal
of heart and soul
which thou did steal

and when thy play
had reached its close
thou turned away
and did dispose

of everything
I gave to thee
the trinkets, letters
the poetry

all are gone
to ne'er be saved
Tattered Remnants
of the love I gave

c1997 Thomas Lee Rhymes - written 03/13/97

Reason for writing:

Why is it, when a relationship is over, that one of the parties
MUST destroy everything they were given during the course of the
relationship? Yet, some of us, cling to those gifts - not so much as to keep the
relationship alive, but to keep the pleasant memories intact.
Yet, some, must leave remnants behind - tattered remnants.
