Thinking of you

by Novalis - Not entered

Shrouded by the midnight haze
The fir trees in the distance
Stand motionless like moaning ghosts;
In solitude I lie lamented
Staring into the bleak darkness.

A gravely silence besets the night
Tearing open my wounds of hopeless love;
You were everything I ever dreamed of,
The love that I felt was so real,
Your heavenly beauty enraptured my soul
Binding it to an endless yearning,
You vanished from my life
So did my hopes and dreams;
Consumed with the deepest of sorrow
I picture you in my mind,
How your tender smile allured me
With its loving radiance;
Memories are all I have of you
Now as my heart burns with unquiet longing
And the tears flow down;
If only I could hold you in my arms,
If only you knew.

A cool breeze rustles through the groves
Illuminated at the break of dawn;
I think of nothing but you
With your glittering eyes
Like the blue morning stars.

Reason for writing:

    My feelings for the most beautiful girl in the world.
Although I will never see her again, she will always
continue to inspire me.
