No Expectations

by Daisy Lynn Fredericks - Not entered

You can never hurt me,
With what you don't or do.
You see, I have no expectations,
Of what is false or true.

I have convinced myself, that it matters not,
What happens from now `til then,
I hope now, that you can also see,
That what you do, cannot make ammends.

What is done, is done; it wasn't your fault,
Therefore you cannnot make it better,
When I think about how you try,
It stretches my heart to the end of its tether.

I know I have to do this on my own,
I have to somehow try,
To make it stop haunting me,
I have to make myself not cry.

I only want you to dry my tears,
Come to my side, and wipe them away.
And now and then, calm my fears,
You help me more than you know,
With the words you don't even have to say.

Just be by my side, and hold me tight,
Until the rain stops.
The thunder and lightning inside my heart,
Will soon calm, and the bubble of turmoil will pop.
