I woke up with her in my arms. Her eyes were closed, she slept, But she was smiling. For a moment my mind was blank, Holding only the image of her still sleeping form, How beautiful she looked laying beside me. Then I remembered, A wave of memory and emotion Of the night before, Of making love to her for the first time. A tear formed in my eye And rolled to the bed sheet. I was not deserving of the gift granted me that evening, And immediately I thanked God. I kissed her cheek And thanked her also. She said nothing, But pulled herself closer to me, And I knew she had been granted the gift also, And I smiled. The End
