A carousel in a shopping mall An oddly disturbing sight Reeking of vaguely suggestive symbolism: of wooden carved animals under flourescent light of silent carved animals slowly drowning in electronic noise from a nearby arcade of a visible odor floating heavily drifting from the endless neon facade of an inside-out vision of a horde of dung beetles crawling on the roots of a great ash tree of a pyramid built on a boat of the river inevitably drifting down to the sea.
Reason for writing:
Well, I was sitting in a mall food court, and noticed
that there was a merry-go-round, right in the middle of
the mall, that seemed to be there for no reason whatsoever.
It seemed too poetic not to write a poem about it.
As for all the weird stuff at the end (the dung beetles
and the pyramid and all that), I'm not really sure where
I came up with it, but just before writing this I spent
several hours studying for a test in my Art History class,
so that may account for some of it.
