Silent Stalkers

by anita - Aries - Not entered

Low tide pawprints in the sand
portray
mother and offspring
preying on tidalpool fish
and unsuspecting beachbirds
Robins belly, thick with seaworms
becomes kittens first kill
feathers fly
as mother cougar proudly watches
childs successfull pounce.
Across the water,
gulls dive and swoop into rolling waves
herring school feeding frenzy
thundering surf thrashes
against a jagged edge coastline
eagles sit atop their throwns
and survey their wild kingdom
taking over the sky when hungry.
