The Sky at Night

by Dave Gourdoux - Not entered

The sky at night
cannot see
the stars chart no course for me
in blinded sight
darkened trees
throw shadows of infinity

The sky at night
cannot speak
the moon turns no tide in me
in pale thin light
voiced too weak
lie echoes of eternity

The sky at night
cannot feel
though the damp dark touches me
its fingers tight
cold as steel
embrace death impassively

Reason for writing:

Written after looking up at the sky on an autumn night.
