Verbal Abuse

by Doreen Ambrose-Van Lee - Not entered

It's not the beatings that hurt for I can not remember the pain,
However, I am sure that it's the hauntingly hateful verbal abuse that lingers on to drive me insane.

Do They Ever Stop?

Stop to see how their words have managed to hurt me my entire life.
How their sneers and jeers have penetrated my black skin just like a knife?

Do They Ever Stop?

Reason for writing:

Because I wonder if people ever stop or stop to think about whether or not they hurt other people's
feelings when they make off the cuff remarks or deep seeded remarks to people whether they are
black, white, young, old, etc.
