each purposeful song in the branches and leaves is a truth about nervous life at ease and proof that the day will be long. each shadow cast by the afternoon star brings a shade to the earth and a warning to all that is made that the day will soon pass. each infant's scream at the shock of new light is ripening flesh, protecting the night from enlightening birds without wings.
