Little Girl

A tiny pixie face with a smile so bright,
her eyes as black as the moonless night.
A dimple curved sweetly in a chubby cheek,
feet that pattered playing hide n' seek.

The laugh that echoed like tinkling bells
as she played with round conches and shells
the flower she had in her curly hair
was red and shone next to her skin so fair.

She danced her dress and it swirled around 
then she slipped and slowly fell to the ground
A wobbling chin and a shaky little hand
pushed tousled hair under a pink hair band.

The eyes they looked up wide and hurt 
a small hand brushed sand from her skirt 
And on her lashes it clung, pure and clear
like a shining diamond a drop of tear.
