What We Need

by Eve/Aries - Not entered

what we need

is a good heavy crusty bread
savory stews
mango parfaits with strawberries and rose water
cardamon, roses, vanilla, violets
to breath, to eat with pleasure
to sustain life

columbines, trilliums, oak
the view from a mountain top
tiny mosses
Monet Rodin O¹Keeffe
beauty for our eyes

smooth rough textures to rub
on our skin draped in velvets
and deep brocades
undulating currents that caress as
river fingers tug, and deep hot immersion
in stationary tubs

we need thoughts, ideas, knowledge
- to touch and be touched
with the sounds of words
vibrating the timpani of our ears
resonating the chords of our hearts

hugs and then some more
soothing massage
to rub away the pain
and titillating pleasure as well
loving and loving and loving

broken things

what we need is to fix all the broken things
rivers gone sour
rain acidic
air visible
what we need is to fix all the broken ideas
all the dissolved notions
of giving not taking
sharing not hording
loving not hating
what we need is to gather
the scattered remains of our humanity
to glue and scotch tape the bent
    crumbled. smeared
         and ripped
    segments of godliness
hidden in the depths of our souls
reach in and pull
hard
on whatever bit of goodness
still lives
before the light goes
out

Reason for writing:

Thinking of what is important to all aspects of a sustaining
and nurturing life and what we as a society do to be detructive
and the need to rectify that.
