The Midas Touch

by Susan Park - Not entered

We used to have the Midas touch.
It bought the things we loved so much.
Life was simple, life was grand,
Investments, cash went hand in hand.
Restaurants and cruises too,
Was anything not brand new?
Where was the peace, where was the joy?
Then God sent a baby boy.
There was so much we must consider,
Our assets then began to wither.
Then God said, please come home
Rededicate and never roam.
I am sufficient for your needs
I created you to do good deeds.
These years that passed were filled with pride.
What can you do with me inside?
We humbled ourselves and bowed to pray,
And then let Jesus show us the way.

Reason for writing:

This poem is autobiographical and demonstrates my
emerging awareness that a personal relationship with Jesus
Christ is more valuable than any riches on earth.
