The Twisted Mind

by lesley a goodman/pisces - Not entered

Penetrating eyes
Lurk in the dark corners
Of her mind.
They enter from without
But come from within.
They memorize the mysterious
Twists and turns,
Understand the perilous cliffs
And dead ends.
She knows they're there,
Looking at her through
Her own eyes.
She knows they create the
Thoughts of evil,
Death
But she takes them as her own.
She plummets to her death
In her mind's eye.
Sees the bloody pulp that was
Her,
While sitting in class.
She knows it's not her
Who creates these fantasies
But it's her who acts on them.
She's the one who tries to
Jump out the window,
Who is not allowed near sharp objects
Because she likes to cut herself.
It is her who tells the
Eyes what to do.
She created them
And they created her.

Reason for writing:

I wrote this poem because I experience these feelings that something else like eyes are the ones who create these fantasies.
