Angel

by Mr. Bailey - Not entered

Angel
Through fate and coincidence a person floats by you like a feather or a dandelion on the wings of life.
You wish and wish
at the chance to get to know them,
                                           to dance with them,
                                               to sing with them,
or to even laugh with them.
You try to smile...
                 then they are gone,
caught in the updraft of circumstance.
You are left feeling lost,
                         with one less person:
                                            fewer experiences in your life.
You look to the skies for wishes,
wishes that even the stars can not grant you.
I wanted to know how to dance, sing, or to even to laugh with you.
You smile...
for you remember how time flies: the way it did when we first met.
Then you were gone...
caught in the updraft of circumstance.
I was left, lost...
                with one less person;
                         fewer experiences in my life.
You keep smiling...
while thousands of stars grin back at you.
I longed to catch that dandelion or feather,
or to even laugh with the stars--your star.
Still I wish,
                  and wish
I got to know you better.

Reason for writing:

This poem reminds me of all those peole who meet other special people and don't give themselves the chance to get to know them....regret.
