Painful Lies

by Juliet (Saggitarius) - Not entered

Unyielding passion
in a lover's eyes.
The pain because
you know of all the lies.
And you can't tell of your own…

The guilt you feel
in every caress.
The guilt that you yourself
cannot express.
Or ever be rid of…

The hurt in knowing
what no other can see.
The triumph of being
what no other could be.
And the premonition of what is to come…

The knowledge that
you and he are forever,
but that for now,
you must pretend never.
And hope for all the dreams of the future…

Reason for writing:

I wrote this after listening to a friend of mine break down and tell me about everything that had recently happened to her and I felt saddened. The story she told deeply moved me and I wrote this poem. I felt that others should read it.
