24 Hours

by Amanda E. Leckron - Not entered

Dancing through the sky,
birds flutter wings
of sheen silk,
circling a cloud
and lost
in cotton candy swirls.
The sun sinks
d

n
and darkens the sky
into a thick
black sheet,
allowing the clouds
to hide in ink spilled
on the sky's paper.
Stars gleam a nightlight
for children
scurrying in feilds,
grasping
for each tiny lightning bug
to place in a glass jar
of doom.
The sounds of silence,
the world is asleep.
Slowly,
the alarm awakens the sun.
It stretches arms of radiance
across the sky,
untill fully awake
and ready for a new day.
