Darkness surrounds, a secret friend It soothes my fears, it’s not pretend No sound is heard, not a stir All before me is but a blur Time remains at perfect peace Feelings have all begun to cease My thoughts are for you alone Unable to hold you, I utter a moan Even in the darkness I can see Your beauty is eternal, a part of me I count the days, but know not why In the darkness I’m left alone to cry Sleep is but a forgotten notion My head is filled with silent emotion To sleep the sleep of an angelic child Would rest my heart which beats too wild The fire within burns deep and free At times it seems I glow, for all to see You are my life here in the dark Upon my soul you’ve made your mark
