Conditional or Unconditional love, that is a question The way we seem to use these words gives me indigestion. People say I want unconditional love 'cause it sounds so good Conditional implies control, manipulation, being misunderstood. Interesting! Unconditional means without conditions or limitations, it is something absolute As in demanding unconditional surrender - is that not a condition? A paradoxical hoot! So you want to be loved unconditionally? Not sure that is where we want to go For I perceive there are no emotions or feelings within unconditional for us to show. When we say, I love you it is because of reasons, good or bad does not really matter Maybe all of us should look more closely at what we say, myths to shatter. For if we love one another in this wonderful unconditional way, what is it we mean That should we truly feel something for the other, is that a condition unforeseen? To really, really care about someone is to be concerned about them no matter the time or season Maybe most importantly, you love them even when they serve you personal treason. To love or care with feelings and emotions towards another Do you suppose these are conditions that cause love to smother? When we stand apart from these feelings and emotions which are a form of condition What is left that bonds or attracts us to the other? Does our love enter into remission? I am finding within myself when I must leave someone I truly love and respect That I continue to retain warm feelings and emotions towards them, on sweet times I reflect. At the same time, out of my life they have gone, we travel a separate path When memories stir, I can only wish them god's warm love with no thoughts of wrath. If that is what is meant by unconditional, then within me a question still resides Just 'cause I think of them in a benign manner, does not mean my love for them subsides. So, what does it all mean, or does it really matter in the Great Cosmic Scheme of Life Is Unconditional still Conditional? And does it set a stage for heartache, pain and strife? Do not we place a condition when we say unconditional surrender Is not unconditional a condition upon the other that we are about to render? To be devoid of all feelings and emotions towards another either malignant or benign Is this unconditional? Or is it just a bad joke from the Cosmic Pits of Hell and Slime? So it is Written ... So it is ... Jay W. Gasaway: 8/11/97 (c)Birth sign: Not entered
