Snowflakes

by cathy - Not entered

And the snowflakes fall to the ground...
In the bright sun we carried on
Watching the world open up around us
The trees yawned and stretched
And shook themselves awake
A breeze lifted a butterfly to your hand
Its delicate beauty against yours
And I kissed your lips
Light and soft, like a dream
The sun grew fat and we grew together
Lying under the starry nights
As tiny fireworks went off around us
I felt your skin
Sleek and trembling
Stretching, expanding, swallowing me whole
Warm against the cool cool grass
Listening to our song
The days got hotter and your skin was like fire
Burning me when we touched
I felt inside you, the beating of your heart
Whispering promises of love
In those heat-filled nights
Your hands were achingly cold
Wiping the sweat off me, sipping it from me
With your butterfly lips
The moon grew bolder
And she gave us the nights
Blessing a love so long forbidden
Those nights were ours
Those long long nights covered in you
Your sweet scent all over me
But our days-
Our precious days-
Were stolen from us as the world grew tired
Nights together became nights alone
As you returned to your life
And left me here.
Now I sit here, alone, in the snow-
Snow so white, like your velvet skin-
And dream of those days
But each second of the past is blurred
Captured by a crystal drop
And my memory grows dim
And my heart's pain lessens
And my body forgets what it aches for
And the snowflakes fall to the ground.

Reason for writing:

want to see what people thought of it
