Lights Went Out In London

by Tony & Elsie Phipps - Not entered

Lights Went Out in London

She brought the light of hope to the trodden down
While the world watched her lose her crown
Stuggled hard to make her way without tears
And she will grace our lives
Far beyond these years

The days were short and with sadness filled
But her smile of love we remember still
How do we say goodbye to a fair lady who lived
With her majestic way only she could give

The lights went out on London's streets tonight
Her bridges crumbled down with all her might
Now all the King's horses and all the King's men
Can't bring our Princess back again

She fought bravely for the right to show
Her sons precious values rarely known
To those made of royal clay
And her crown of beauty lives in our hearts today

Reason for writing:

To express our feelings about a great lady who left us much too soon. Written September 19, 1997
