Dressed in exquisite satin and lace, In creamy pearls and fresh bouquets Of baby's breath and ivory orchids, In prim-rose ribbons and lovely beads And carpet spread at the regal threshold, Paths adorned by ornamental cords, and aisles propped with pastel flowers, the plucked petals the angels will shower, The beaconing lights turned my skin neon, Enchanting my being in a charming fashion, The groom in tux and ebony slacks, Maids in cloudy veil of rosy frock, And when the clavichord tunes the sweet aria, Choirs gladly sing in utter euphoria, Then proudly I march in even harmony, In elegant motion, I flutter like a fairy How blithe I feel and the creatures beside me, Yet mother weeps as she lets me free, And father firm as he can be Gently he said, Daughter, I am proud of thee. And with their blessings I reach out my hand To the man smiling as he smartly stands And together we pray in silent eloquence, That love will linger a hundred years hence
