Tracks In The Sand by Robert Porter Copyrighted September 23rd, 1997 Tracks in the sand lead to you and I. A golden sunset reflects off the ocean. A white cotton sun dress, with a purple waist tie. Smell the salt air and coconut lotion. The cry of the gull. The crash of the waves. A beautiful symphony without lull. A distant ship off in the haze. Slowly we walk in the sand. Pausing, we stop to pick up a shell Of ivory and pink, you hold them in your hand. Of my favorite I tell. Our skin is red, warm, but mostly tan. The beach, then lunch and shopping, it was a good plan. For me, the sailing ship painting, I didn't think you should. The new gold necklace against your skin looks so good. The surf rushes, covers our feet. The ocean breeze blows your hair. Stopping, turning, our lips meet. Caressing, touching, it's just us there. We both smile realizing this has grown. A greater happiness I have never known. Continuing to walk, silent, just holding hands. Our minds race, wondering, making plans. We will take an evening walk, you in a elegant gown. A quiet walk through town. A candlelight dinner with lights down low. Some wine, soft melodies and dancing so slow. In the candlelight your eyes will sparkle. Your smile brings a dimple. After, walking along the shore, gazing into the dark. I will kiss and hold you there without remark. In bed, on cool sheets we will lie. Tired, staying awake we will try. In each other's arms I will profess my love. To you and the lord above. Drifting off our souls go as one. Hearts content with the other, beating in unison. Asleep, but bodies still aware. Morning's pale light will find us there.
