Your Birthday

This morning I looked to the view
Dawn's light, beautiful sight to behold.
Such a scene brought thoughts of you.
Brilliant sunrise, clouds of purple and gold.

Thoughts of the night,
bring a slow smile.
Your image comes into sight.
Driving to work all the while.

Sitting in front of your cake.
Your eyes twinkled in candle's light.
What a lovely sight it did make.
Diamond earrings with fire of white.

Luring eyes bring an embrace.
This memory captives my mind.
A hauntingly beautiful face.
A kiss, the soft tender kind.

On your lips alittle birthday cake I taste.
Your hands around my neck.
My hands on your waist.
Sweet melodies from the deck.

Our body sway in embrace.
Eyes locked onto each other.
A soft caress of your face.
Two souls into one another.

Like a flash I hear a horn.
Snapping to, my mind ceases to roam.
Turn the car around on Main and Elm.
And quickly I head for home.

Reason for writing:

Things that could have been, should have been.
