The Chrysalis

by The Maiden Poet - Not entered

The Chrysalis

The armor used to shelter me now binding me so tight,
my wings are formed, the urges strong
to be free and take my flight.

I’ve struggled long and nurtured hope as seasons come and go,
The flowers bloomed, the leaves then fell
with winter came the snow.

Watched life pass by and move ahead while trapped behind the glass,
knowing I would have to wait
until this transformation passed.

With spring there comes renewal and my freedom close at hand,
I shall spread my wings in sunshine
and take flight across the land.

There will be no limitations, no barriers or walls,
I will find the one I’m meant for
and to them I will give all.

Together we’ll be carried on a summers breeze so high,
exploring all the wonders through the love
that’s in our eyes.

At night we’ll rest together on a cloud so soft and sweet,
and know for all eternity, our hearts as one they’ll beat.
