Already Yesterday
The world is too complex
To fix it on the run;
Each yesterday should teach
Things cannot be redone.
The past exceeds the reach,
Although it seems so near;
All yesterdays retreat
Into a sturdy sphere.
The wise may find a way
To draw some marrow out;
But it's already yesterday-
Of that there's little doubt.
It was a rare delight,
A very special treat,
But that was yesterday,
And yesterday's complete.
Reason for writing:
Recognition of the fleeting nature of life, appreciation for
memories of good things.
