At Night

by Johnny McVies - Not entered

At night
gnomes and cool-air girls
intervene and mingle
on the smooth damp pavement
Walking here, walking up
waking up with regret.
Childish monkeys
throw money and booze and pot
Sleekly dressed pneumatic 19-yr-olds
living on the heights of sex
using condoms because they're smart
Soulless jocks, friends to all
guzzle their amber sustenance.
This is night, we nervously laugh
laugh at our latest gossip,
laugh with our friends, gone in the morning
laugh at each other, we're all useless fools.

Reason for writing:

This is my cynical, written-on-the-spot view of what happens on a college campus at night.
