Fistfuls of the Dream

by David Lewis LEO - Not entered

stride high by the sunrise
shining loud your name
your voice new and proud
Our future,
that’s what they’ll say about you
young hearts beating your music
a distant dream
their hero-muse
they breathe your fantasy
while old eyes just laugh and look away
dismiss you with a smirk, and wave..
they’ve been tapping your tune
ever since they were happy
they’ve seen it all worked out
there’s a circle you have to be them to see
but they know why
so just stride high and smile
as you walk on by

Reason for writing:

Frustration, the idea that new music (including poetry) is inferior to the old...true or not...
