The Children

by A.D. Heller - Not entered

Listen to the children
They shall lead the world
For they are our future
And they shall be our shame

We don't hear the children
We only see their faults
But they will someday show us up
And prove that we were wrong

We don't believe the children
But they do know where they stand
They know what to do and when
But we don't understand

Be truthful with the children
They know when we lie
They shall think the worst of us
And they will know they are right

Pay attention to the children
Let them know you care
Teach them to be careful
And let them be their own

The children are our future
They hold our fates in hand
Teach them to be their best
Teach them to run this land

Reason for writing:

I feel strongly about how the children are our future. This
poem was written to show how they are important to future
generations in this world.
