Beauty

by A.D. Heller *Libra* - Not entered

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
But what if they cannot see?
All around them is darkness,
So where can the beauty be?

A child sees beauty everywhere,
An elder sees it in the young.
Some see no beauty anywhere,
And tell it with a flapping tounge.

But what of others who see no light,
The ones who should feel dispair.
They see beauty where others don’t
In friendships true and fair.

Beauty’s there if you look,
Beyond the naked sight.
Close your eyes and look again,
And you may see the light.

Friendship is a beautiful thing,
The beauty is not skin deep.
Look beneath what others see,
And you're a friend to keep.

Reason for writing:

One of my friends is legally blind. This poem is partly
a tribute to her. It is also to tell people that there is
beauty beyond the skin. Look beneath the surface, and
there might be something that you've never known was there.
