The Warmth of Friendship

by Diz-e Aries - Not entered

When in the beginning, we were all just mire acquaintances.
When it sometimes feels like we've known each other for life.

When life just doesn't seem fair.
And other times we feel that we don't belong.

When our siblings don't compare to our friends.
When we think of each other as family.

When problems are present everyday.
And when these problems are present within us.

Through the ups and downs.
Through the good times and bad.

Through hell when we think we are drifting apart.
Through hell when thinking about what someone said.

When life brings us
Heartache, pain, and disappointment.

And down the road, when we grow older,
When time and distances grow-

We must remember about things.
The things that kept us together all this time.

Things like a simple smile,
Given to one another when just walking by.

The things that aren't said too each other,
But understood.

For the language of friendship is not with words,
But with love and meanings.

But the thing we must remember always is:
That no matter how far the distance;

No matter how long we haven't seen each other,
The Warmth of Friendship will always be felt.

This warmth will save the memories from the past.
And will bring us something, so that we can make new ones.

Reason for writing:

I think that friends are really important. They help you get through things, when you aren't ready to talk to your family about it. My friends are like my family.
When I wrote this poem, my close group of friends were going through tough times. And when they read this poem, they saw all the crap that we were going through at that time, and slowly, we're getting it back together.
And since later, when we might go our different ways, we'll always have these memories with us.
