A Dream

by Bridgette* Cancer - Not entered

We catch each others eyes from across the room.
Your smile totally lifts my gloom.
We walk towards one another,
you hug me like I am your lover.
You suggest we go somewhere we can be by ourselves,
so we go in a room where there's no one else.
You tell me it's my heart you're longing for,
and it's these words that make my heart soar.
These are the words I've waited so long to hear,
and coming from your lips they are so dear.
You brush my hair away from my face,
take my hands with such sweet grace.
We're dancing together to the music in our heads.
You are my world, you softly said.
I look at you to see if you're telling me lies,
when I realize your not, tears spring to my eyes.
A tear slides slowly down my cheek,
your soft lips kiss it away, then you softly speak:
You're an angel sent here from above,
I would be honored if I could have your love.
It's so ironic how this world can be,
all this time I've been praying you'd love me.
I whisper this softly in your ear,
so soft you have to strain to hear.
The tears now belong to you, too,
you take me in your arms holding me close to you.
Our lips search for each others in the dark,
until they finally meet their mark.
My head soars at their meeting,
we're so close I can feel your heart beating.
All my dreams have suddenly came true,
you love me like I love you.
But then I open my eyes and you're not there.
Suddenly life doesn't seem so fair.
I realize it was just a dream,
my eyes have suddenly lost their gleam.
Once again my eyes are holding back tears,
but this time your not here to calm my fears.

Reason for writing:

A guy, my feelings for him, and a dream. I've been told before that a dream is a wish your heart makes. In this certain case, this statement couldn't be any truer.
