She holds her head up high, as she walks unsteadiy down the hall. She forces a little smile unto her face, but it doesn't cover up the look in her teary eyes. She tries to hide the pein, that weighs her heart down to the ground, and as it hits the ground, it crumbles to pieces. She squats down to collect her shattered heart, and sees him coming down the hall. The pieces turn to dust, and are swept away on his passing wind. But as he passed, she heard him utter four short words, barely aloud, You broke my heart he said softly. She tried to explain her reasons and that she was suffering too, but all she did was shed some tears and not a word was able to choke out but sorry, love and it was too late, for he was too far away to hear. And so she ran away from him and ran from everyone and ran from herself until she fell to her knees crying softly, alone in the dark. And she felt a hand on her shoulder and she turned to find a warm, friendly face, and I helped you get up, and hugged you, and a great weight was lifted from your shoulders. I understood your pain, and my heart was breaking too. My heart was breaking for you. And you began to find the pieces of your heart and put them together again slowly with my help. And somehow, you knew things would be right again. Someday. -Jada Marie Andrews
Reason for writing:
I wrote this poem for one of my best friends when she and her boyfriend broke up. I wanted to capture her feelings in a poem best I could, and give her a sense of hope.Birth sign: Not entered
