Shatter

SHATTER

SHADOWS DRIVEN BY

THE LIGHT OF FAITH,

SPOKEN WORDS SHATTER

LIKE BROKEN PLATES;

TWENTY PIECES TO

A DOZEN,

EACH WITH A DIFFERENT FEELING,

WORDS INTERPRETED AS DIFFERENT

MEANINGS;

WHY DIDYOU SAY IT?

I DIDN'T MEAN TO,

BUT YOU DID?

SO I DID, SO WHAT?

GET OUT;

UNSAID SAID,

SPOKEN, UNSPOKEN,

A NAIL ON THE HEAD,

HAMMER AWAY, MERCILESSLY,

BUT IT COULD BE YOU,

STANDING THERE SHAKEN- BROKEN;

2 SIDES TO A COIN,

HEADS OR TAILS,

6 SIDES TO A DICE,

1, 3, OR 5?

THROW IT AWAY

BEHIND YOUR BACK,

IT MIGHT HIT AND CRACK,

OR SHATTER PLATES,

WORDS MIGHT SHATTER,

SOMEONES FAITH.

***************

Reason for writing:

    So many things are said unthinkingly everyday. So many feelings are hurt, hopes are crushed, hearts are broken.
I wrote this poem during one of these phases, I was feeling pretty cynical that time, I guess it shows in the poem.
