In Your Heart I'm There

by kelli bircket (Aries) - Not entered

I know you told me to be careful,
to always look both ways.
But today I was in a hurry,
and the rest is all a haze.
I remember things that morning.
Everything was great.
You woke me up from bed.
I did not sleep in late.
I got up very sleepily
and brushed my teeth and hair.
I kissed you on the cheek
to show you how I care.
Some friends from school came calling,
so I went out to say, Hi!.
We walked up to the park.
I was the only guy.
Then we all got thirsty,
so we went to get a drink.
The rest all happened suddenly,
I had no time to think.
The first two walked ahead,
I stayed back with my girl.
I did not see that car.
The rest is all a whirl.
The girls all started screaming.
They ran home to get you.
The drivers of the cars stopped,
not knowing what to do.
I saw myself lying there
and you were by my side.
I heard you talking to me,
as you held my hand and cried.
I want to yell out, It doesn't hurt.,
No pain., and I'm ok..
I want to say, I love you.,
but you know that anyway.
I know that you will miss me,
but like I said before,
I'm ok here in Heaven.
No hate, no fear, no war.
Please, do not cry for me,
unless it helps you heal.
For me, no tears will shed my face,
happiness is all I feel.
I am still a part of you,
as you are still of me.
But we'll meet again in Heaven,
in a place so pure and free.
We'll be together longer
than we'll ever be apart...
Eternity in Heaven
and Forever in our hearts.
Don't think of me as gone,
think of me as just away.
'Cause we're not so far apart.
We'll meet again someday.
You know that I still love you,
you know that I still care.
So don't feel sad and lonely,
in your heart, you know I'm there.

Reason for writing:

My brother was hit by a car and killed in 1994. I wrote
this poem from his view point to my mother, who has had a
very difficult time trying to cope with his death. I wanted
her to know that he's ok in Heaven and one day we'll all get
to join him there. But untill then, he'll always remain in
our hearts.
