The Sixties

by kelli bircket (Aries) - Not entered

Short and with a flip
or hair straight and long,
parted down the middle.
Groovn' to a song.
Lots and lots of beads.
And fringe was so in style.
Jeans that hugged your hips,
but belled out a mile.
Shoes were clogs and platforms.
Vests and tie dye were the crave.
But don't forget you protest signs...
for the earth we want to save!
Peace signs, protest signs, happy faces, too.
Symbols of the 60's
when life was fresh and new.
JFK assassined,
mystery never known.
Protest of the Vietnam War...
Send Our Soldiers Home!.
Beatles in America,
their music all did dig.
Screaming girls, chart topping hits,
and the Beatle wig!
The 60's music was wild and free.
The bands were always high.
New sounds were really groovn'.
They made you wanna fly.
Marches and sit-ins and psychedelic ways.
The 60's, so full of life,
now nothing but a haze.
Make Love Not War!,
and Give Peace A Chance!.
Get wasted at a party.
Hippies like to dance!
Love one another.
Share with them your joint.
Light it up together.
Soon they'll get the point.
Life was one big party
that never had to end.
Everyone was your brother.
Everyone was your friend.
The 60's were a crazy time,
but really groovy, too.
Always something happening.
Always something new.
Carefree and wonderful,
fashion and more.
The 60's were a decade
that no one could ignore!

Reason for writing:

I just love the 60's! I think it had to have been the best
era to live in. Being only 18, I didn't get to grow up in
the 60's, but it would have been great!
