On a long walk with your mind in the air When you hear people screaming but no one's there When your stomach hurts and your eyes start to tear You look around but there's nothing to fear Unless of course you look inside And you see yourself and you see what you hide But more importantly you finally see What one day you could be And this pain in your heart grows stronger And the knot in your side lasts a little bit longer And your feet grow weary from standing all day And you wish your life wouldn't live out this way You wish you were happy and rich and proud With hundreds of friends so that you could be loud And that you could smile instead of your never-ending frown But that kind of life will never be found Except in the movies you watch and the fake lives you live Absorbing emotions 'til there's none left to give Except for the pain and anger which grows So it's only bad things that you can show And you keep on praying to that god you believe in That there's got to be more to life than you're feeling There's got to be more than two hours and a screen Why are you here, why are you here, what does it mean It means you've bought into the preacher who's lying It means you believe in that god who's dying You believe that it'll be better when he's here He'll come around, there's nothing to worry, there's nothing to fear But if you stop your devotion and open your eyes You'll see the world clearly, the tears and the cries And you'll see that this god that you once loved Has nothing to do with any of the above Except for the fact that he blinds his believers It's not Satan but god who's the ultimate deceiver 'Cause it's he who makes you want to die and climb higher While us still on earth get engulfed in his fire The fire that you helped to ignite And the nuclear clouds you started at night Thinking and knowing that your god will save How on earth could he doesn't behave It's us, people, who control our own fates And it's us who need to set things straight Cause we've broken everything that we've got The earth is dying and she means a lot So get out of your church and out of your bed Let loose your questions, unseal your head 'Cause there's millions of answers out trying to be found The only problem is that you're not around You're too busy to see the beauty of man 'Cause all that was preached was meant to damn The people who saw and the people who knew It's with earth, not god, that we should be true We should be kind and respect the mother who saves And we should do work for the mother who slaves If not for her sake, then at least for man Because where would we be without this land I can tell you one place where we won't be Not in heaven or hell or in between Dead, gone, that's where we'll live When we run out of things to give But we've taken and used, killing all And we'll kill ourselves, yes, that's how we'll fall 'Cause we're killing the animals, the plants and the trees Screaming death to the birds, death to the bees We'll rape them from the honey they make And rape them from their flight then mistake Both these producers for being just there And we'll kill them when we see it as fair But killing ain't right, no form and no shape Can prove it's okay, but the killings stay Because close minded wearers of blind rabbits and whales Rule a cruel world of crushed ants and snails The only way we as a race can survive Is to learn respect, to stay alive We need to learn love, most importantly We need to learn love non-prejudicially 'Cause love can't be bought at a discount store And it ain't used once then not need no more Love is something you don't just buy Some people don't know even when they die And it's those people who kill and rape and steal And it's them that restrict your own free will So teach them all the love that you know 'Cause if they learn love, we've got something to show So if you follow these rules, those of the heart And you forget about god, and you grow apart From your old faith, and you abandon all hate Love and Earth will set you straight
