Oh man-made deformity Betrayed by the healing hands of time Where hopes and aspirations lay broken into mismatched pieces Shattered by sharp words and empty promises There is a numbness encasing the wound a place where the susceptible no longer dares to feel for fear that it may never mend to its original form And it is inside the laceration that the richest blood fills the deep cavity and rage burns most fiercely There is an honesty that is almost too paralyzing to behold Yet against gentle sensibilities eager eyes cannot help but glance inside And it is there that tortured love and senseless dreams are enclosed safely by the hardening flesh grown bitter and rotten with time And it is there amidst the dead, nestled deep within the cavernous black hole that coarse fingers are always most tempted to touch
