The altar

by FA - Not entered

My guts, spilled upon the altar of departure
Dripping, steaming, they tell of the future

Anything, for you, I would have done
Against all odds; I would have won
I gave you my love, I gave you my trust
Until I felt the blade being thrust

A bloody dagger lying at your feet
Your smile, a shine that can't be beat
All around the lights are fading
Body growing numb, mind slowly drifting

Such a coward; afraid to lose your pride
You sent me on my last ride
If so must be; then hear my screams as I die
Voice of the light; it does not lie

My heart, stabbed upon the altar of departure
Drowning in its own blood; it tells of our future...
