Dad

by Sharon/Cancer - Not entered

I used to wait for you
but you never came.
For a long time
I would sit in the dark
and sing
very softly,
So you'd hear me, if you were thinking about me.
Then
you could look for me.
When you found me
you'd introduce yourself and say
I heard a silent song in the air, so I followed it,
and it led me here.
Yes. . .
It was me, singing to you.
So
I kept on singing, so you'd stay.
Until one day, I ran out of songs,
and you went away.
But I know you'll be back
when you catch my song in the air again.
But for now
I'll wait for you,
Even though you may not come for a long time.
So I'll sing.

Reason for writing:

The sadness and hope a child feels waiting for that one missing link.
