death of a friend

by tracey d washburn aries - Not entered

murky depths of stagnating water
ebb and flow through the river of the mind
knowledge trapped within the slimy deep
washes loose, breaking through the surface of thought
with intrusive driftwood from the past
the splinter lurches forward through the undertow
that tries, in vain, to drag the castaway down again
then the drowning swimmer gives in
the darkness swallows it whole
burying the deadwood once more in the mire
at the bottom of conciousness

Reason for writing:

a dear friend of mine was found dead in his home. he died
as he lived alone. noone deserves that. he was the inspiration to write, isolation was the inspiration to submit
