Growing up together was so hard to do Best friends till the end wasn't always true As toddlers we played in your Daddy's truck As we grew older, we wished the other luck We'd climb up a tree and find shapes in the sky We'd wish we had wings, pretending to fly I still remember the day you weren't there I cried for days, It just wasn't fair No one understood the promise made in the tree I wish you could have known, you'd get wings before me
