Silent Lament

by Michael (INTJ) - Not entered

Your lips never speak kindly words of affection
Showing the slightest warmth you fear will encourage my passion
Your eyes with mine never seek a connection

Yet through it all I’m forever grateful for your indulgence

I know my love for you is a cause of great consternation
My gifts you accept with so much trepidation
When I speak of my love you quickly change the conversation

Yet through it all I’m forever grateful for your indulgence

You say my love for you is the product of miscalculation
And that you came at a time when my life was in confusion
That what you seek with me is not our ultimate union

Yet through it all I’m forever grateful for your indulgence

Though there are things I must give up to be one with you
It’s not my net loss but a gain, this is true!
My life will be complete when I’m loving you

And I pray some day you’ll say, “I love you too”

Reason for writing:

Struggling with a relationship. She knows I love her.
I know she likes me as a friend. I'm trying to work it out.
