Fateful Words

by Melissa Sagitarious - Not entered

Have you ever said something
that you later regreted having said?
If you have, then you can
hopefully find a way to forgive me.

When I told you it was over,
I didn't know what I was saying.
When you asked to remain friends,
I thought I could handle it.

Now I see that I was wrong.
I never wanted it to end.
I let my mind do the talking
instead of my heart.

This feeling inside is killing me.
I realize now that
we could never remain
as just friends.

I said I was afraid of loosing you,
but I was really afaid of loving you.
I was too busy looking out for myself,
that I completely overlooked what I had.

Every night and every day
I wish I could take back
the words that I said, because
they are words I never meant to say.

Reason for writing:

I wrote this because I broke up with my boyfriend because I was afraid of commitment and I really missed him. (We did get back together later too).
