Innocence

by Melissa Sagitarious - Not entered

My eyes have not yet captured the impurity of life.
I envision things as I want them to be.
I relish in the true elegance of everything.
Please do not destroy my childish views of things.
For I enjoy not knowing the true ways of this world.
I love my innocence and I don't want to change.

My mind is still young and untainted.
When you say the things you say to me,
I'm not sure I understand your meanings behind the words.
Please be open and forward with me,
for I am not like others you may know.
I love my innocence and I don't want to change.

My heart is still yet unexperienced in the ways of love.
I may seem like a child in this game,
but this is just one adventure I've not yet taken.
So please be careful with me,
for I am sensitive
and I'd like to stay that way.

Reason for writing:

There isn't really a reason why I wrote this, I just did. I guess it describes me pretty well. Also it is getting published in an Anthology by the National Society of Poetry.
