Watch Me Fly

WATCH ME FLY
Copyright 1997
Ellen Fair

Suddenly it's autumn
Looking back across the way
The distance blends together
Today and yesterday

On yes, the third trimester
Of a life that's not quite lived
And now there's left but winter
That is all that's left to give

Stronger wings are flexed now
Poised beneath the sky
I spread them in rebellion
Can you see them? Watch me fly!

Reason for writing:

The seasons of my life are changing...I suddenly
awoke and found that, according to the averages,
my life is half gone. But I also realized that
much of it remains. And so, in rebellion,
I spread my wings...and fly stronger than ever before.
