in the adolescent mental hospital

by Dorsi - Not entered

no one is eating there own tongue
or talking to the wall
we are just like you
just without shoelaces
we sing the songs on the raido
we kiss when staff is not looking

it is like camp
except no one owns a razor
at night we whisper secrets
and all boys flood the toliet

except if you bite
they restrain you
and stick a needle in your butt

we are a family
rather dysfunctional family
at night you can hear screams
from the poor soul who misbehaved

the person who's restrained
screams I have to go to the bathroom!
this goes on for some time
finally it gets through to me
and I relieve myself
when I walk out of the bathroom
I leave the water running so she can hear
I tell her
Guess what I just did?
She screams at me
the staff member smiles at me
sometimes screaming brats deserved to be tortured

that's all we are
screaming brats
teenager who just don't get it
we are you
except we have scars
except we wake to med call

once in awhile
a real crazy comes in
they faint and
talk back to themselves
in a few days the medskicks in
and the real person is back

the people on lithuim shake
whatever Charles is on makes him fart all the time
he sits at the other side of the room
Melissa twitches in her sleep

on the weekends the good ones get to visit home
the others hang around and wait from food from home
we all have the same wish

we all want home
once we get there
the majority of us come back
the real world becomes too scary
Hillside becomes a vacation spot
when things get to real back home

it doesn't make you better
it just keeps you alive

we are ust like you
we are creatures of habit
