Shannon

by Luke Van Hamblen * - Not entered

I thought about something today that I hadn't thought about in a long time.
This bloke in my speech class was demonstrating how to play poker.
I remember how when I was a kid I always
wondered why the king of hearts always looked
like he was stabbing himself in the head.
I use to call him the suicide king.

Shannon was always real competitive at games like that.
I think I understand now why the queen of hearts always seemed to have a smile on her face.
And maybe now I understand why the king of hearts always wanted to die:
Because his entire kingdom is based on love, and yet his queen doesn't love him back.

Reason for writing:

not really a poem, i guess, but it's true...
