T H E F A I R Y A late cool evening in spring And in the trees I hear birds sing They dismiss the light of day And welcome night in creepy grey And I am sitting at the fire My heart is full of burning desire It is a struggle to stay awake So I set out for the lake I am packing all my goods Go for the passage through the woods The fog that makes me feel so blind Is cause for panic in my mind Like being watched, so do I feel Eyes upon me, cold as steel Of creatures hidden by the night Waiting for me, but out of sight Overwhelmed by growing fear The only things that I can hear Are my heartbeat and my breath As I fear a sudden death I'm exhausted through my speed A quiet rest is what I need And as I struggle on and on My will to live is almost gone A spark of hope comes to my sight When suddenly I see a light I've nearly reached the forest's border Now once again all seems in order As I step out into the light I know that I've survived the night I'm on a clearing, early dawn My weariness forces me to yawn The sound of water wakes me up Thirsty I reach for my cup I drink fresh water from the fountain That bubbles out a little mountain And as I drink I hear a voice That's full of might, yet makes no noise I stop to drink and make a pause And look around to search the cause My eyes still are a little weary But suddenly I see a fairy A tiny figure, gleaming bright Surrounded by a glimmering light She's threatened by a natural trap Her little wings are very wet Dropped in the pond and can't get out Come help me, please, I hear her shout I help her to get out the pool But she suspects me to be cruel Her sweetest face is full of fear And she cries a single tear I speak soft words to calm her down And hand her back her golden crown After some time she feels so safe I've freed her from her icy grave And suddenly with giggling laughter She leaves my hand to follow after A butterfly that passes by And vanishes into the sky This little creature touched my emotion I sigh and then I drink the potion That is the water from the lake Which lets me feel again awake The waterfall refreshes me As I go on, my eyes can see Sunflowers that are so splendid There's no more darkness - this field banned it Now I enjoy my recreation This field of flowers's my last station On my search for eternal peace So I lay down and live with ease And fortunate I fall asleep But then I hear a voice so sweet I'd swear to have it heared before But can't remember anymore The fairy comes back from the sky And sings for me a lullaby I am so glad about her presence And offer her some of the essence The fountain's water tastes so well And the soft voice sounds like a bell I love this fairy and we spend Our lives together 'till the end. Reason for writing:
When I was together with my girlfriend for 11 months, I decided to write a poem for her. This poem differs from my other poems, that normally express a dark atmosphere, but as I am happy to be with her, I tried to write a positve poem.Birth sign: Not entered
