Here Stands a Fool

by Vicky Rudd / Taurus - Not entered

Here stands a fool.

Alone,
Humor and witticisms
Overshadowing
a heart no mortal man shall see.
He is taken for granted--
Laughter at his jokes,
Smiles at his pratfalls.
His court applauds,
Never seeing beyond
To the humanity this facade belies.
He makes a mockery of life
With acrid comment and ready grin.

And yet,
The eyes of a sightless king
Search
And find truth amongst the barbs.
