LoVeS

by Vicky Rudd / Taurus - Not entered

Have you ever felt the whisper of a child's voice
as she pulls your head down level with hers
and whispers, I love you?
Have you ever felt the gentle brush
of a child's lips on your cheek
or the pressure of her head as she leans on you,
accepting whatever you will offer,
and always asking for more?

Have you ever looked into someone's eyes for the first time
and felt that you'd known them for a lifetime?
Everything about this person
is as familiar to you as your own person.
The texture of a voice,
the inflections of a heart,
the shadows of a soul,
the rhythms of a friendship...
all coming together in a corporeal form.
A form made all the more beautiful
because you have known this person
from the inside out
rather than from the outside in...

Have you ever loved someone
to the ultimate depth of your being?
The joy of hearing this person's voice,
seeing their smile,
feeling their laughter,
all combining to give the greatest pleasure
this world has to offer.
A companion...
someone with whom you can do things that you both enjoy,
and yet still have time to yourself
to do things only you enjoy.
A friend...
someone with whom you can share anything
and know you will be understood and still be loved.
A soulmate...
someone who knows you inside and out,
accepts your flaws,
embraces your strengths,
encourages you along the way
when you feel you are losing the war
and not just the battle.
Someone who complements you,
mirroring you,
exceedingly similar yet ultimately different...
